  1. I just started using CDCheck after a complaint that one of my DVDs had some problems on a friend's player. I normally create DVDs in Adobe DVD Encore and burn with Nero, and I really haven't had any playability problems up till now.

But today I have tried everything I can think of, and I keep getting the same exact errors with CDCheck. It doesn't matter what video_ts folder I use (I've tried two different projects, each located on different internal hard drives) or what internal DVD burner I use (tried both LG and Sony), or what burning program I use (Nero, ImgBurn). With all these variables, I always get "compare" errors on the same four file types:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO

The error message for each file is "content mismatch (code: 62)".

Remember, this has happened with two different video_ts folders--so it's not the exact same four files every time, just the same type of nav files that are in each of the two projects that Encore built.

I am using TY media, drives are DMA enabled. Absolutely cannot figure out at this point what the problem is. (Incidentally, Nero and ImgBurn always pass verification testing too, so otherwise I would be under the impression that these discs had burned perfectly fine.)

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm fresh out. Thanks.

  2. I have an update to add. I just burned a DVD which had its video_ts folder created by DVD Shrink. (Burned via Nero.) NO errors in CDCheck.

So by process of elimination, it seems as if the problem lies in Encore. For some reason, the video_ts folder that Encore builds is changed somehow by both Nero and ImgBurn during the burning process. And that is why CDCheck reports errors between the IFO and BUP files. By comparison, the folder that DVD Shrink builds/copies from a premade DVD does not cause Nero (or presumably ImgBurn either) to change anything, so the compare works.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm really bothered by this because I've spent years learning Encore, and now I'm concerned it's not building DVDs correctly. Thanks.
