I have a 720p (1280x720) video that I shot and I want to burn it to DVD for viewing on a standalone DVD player.
I understand the DVD spec requires a stored aspect ratio of 720x480 (1:1.5). Since my video is 16:9 can I simply resize it to 720x480 (it looks tall/skinny in VDub), flag it as 16:9 in CCE and be done? Will it look correct on both widescreen and standard NTSC sets?
Thanks!

Yes it will.I resize 1280x720 to 720x480 when i encode to 16:9 but i save the original file for when i get my blu-ray player and burner.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Frame rate is also an issue. If shot 29.97 fps progressive, you would encode to 480i (wide) spec with both fields from the same frame. If you shot 23.976 fps progressive, you would encode 480p (wide) for DVD or telecine (apply pulldown) to 480i wide.
