I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I'm quite new to this forum.

I was trying to convert some VOB files to DV files using the newest version of FFMpegX, some files worked great, I got exactly what I wanted.

I went to try some other files that were very short, FFMpegX knew they exactly what they were but they never encoded, they were submitted to the processor but were processed way to quick and the output was zero in size...

What am I missing here? Is there something that could be in the VOB that is preventing it from working? I'm able to play them in VLC and VLC WAS able to export them...

Any help or suggestions would be great.
    Tx

For VOB-->DV, perhaps a better choice is MPEGStreamclip. Ffmpegx is a Swiss Army Knife, which is both a strength and a weakness. MPEGStreamclip aspires to do fewer things, and that specialization pays off.

If, however, you want to debug ffmpegx, a good first step is to post the contents of the logfile (click on the blue "i" in the Progress pane). There's likely a useful clue there as to what caused the problem.

I am unable to encode from DV to Mov. I choose the file and It says unrecognizable. I used ffmpegx without any problems for about a year now, but when I got my computer updated to Mac OSX 10.4 it seems to not be recognizing movie files. What would be the best solution? I appreciate any feedback and info! Thanks!

Try re-installing ffmpegX, including all the binaries.
