  1. So far in my family DVDs I've been happy enough with simple transitions and minimal 'effects'. But I'd now like to try some special 'alpha' effects, etc. I'm learning how to make these (for use in my NLE, Magix MEP 14 Pro Plus). However, it's hard-going. I've seen frequent references to ready-made collections of such clips, such as from 'DigitalJuice'. I'm having trouble finding their site. And ideally I would prefer a UK supplier if anyone can recommend one please?

Finally, are there any free resources of this kind I might try to get me started please?

If you type Digital Juice into Google it comes up top of the list.

As for free collections - there are a few around, some given way as samplers, some genuinely free with no strings attached. But the range is slim, and the quality or resolution often sub par.

http://www.thecliparchive.com/ links to some of the free collections and is worth a browse.

  3. Many thanks. It must be my habit of ignoring the top couple of 'featured' hits - I see it now!

Duly downloading a few apparent freebies from DJ (for the price of registering) and that other site looks good.

Also worth looking at is their video podcast series, which includes tutorials, products rundowns and general video classes. Some of it is too brief, or too product specific, but a lot of it gives you ideas for y0ur own software to achieve a particular look or effect.

  5. Thanks, much appreciated.

I've been downloading pretty well all day from those earlier links you recommended! The time must come soon though when I start sorting the wheat from the chaff.
