I convert alot of mkv files to vob(mpeg) with the program mkv2vob. The problem is that the files often are over 5 gb, so I wounder if there are any program that can split this type of file to two or three files without loosing quality. I still want them to be in 720p or 1080p.

Use ">>" and "<<" to navigate keyframes (e.g. fast forward, reverse) - you can use the slider to drag to move faster, but the ending cutpoints should be on a keyframe.
Use "[" and "]" to mark begin/end segment markers to highlight the section you want
File=>save this clip
All it does is copy that segment
Another option would be to split the mkv file first before your conversion, using mkvmerge
