Ok so I ripped about 1.2TB of DVD's and my problem is, When I ripped then with DVD decrypter I used the option to join the VOB files, which works great, BUT I have a few problems.
Usually the DVD's turn out to be around 8GB each, I would then use ifoedit to create ifo files and I would burn to DL DVD using imgburn. that worked, but silly me I bought Memorex DVD's and that's when I found out just how bad memorex was so most of them were coasters.
my REAL problem is when I try to split the VOB files. see I'm out of Dual layer DVD's (for now) and I was using DVDFAB7 to convert the DVD9 files to DVD5 so they could be burned to my regular DVD+R's, I don't have the DVD's anymore so re-ripping is out of the question.
I used vobedit to demux the VOB file, which seemed to work, but the audio was terribly out of sync. is there a way of doing this without audio becoming out of sync?
Ok, theres my question for problem one. now I have another question.
I was watching one of the DVD's that I burned to DL and noticed toward the end of the movie, there was a couple frames where there were green patches, then the audio went out of sync. I have two questions:
1) was this caused because it was a Memorex DVD and some of the sectors were corrupt?
2) OR because the VOB file was 8GB and the maximum allowed file size for the file system is like 5GB (I used the option in imgburn to bypass this limit)
I'm think it's because of number 1 because I have a few DVD's burned the same way and they seem to play flawlessly.
also, it is a bad diea to bypass the file size limit? I mean.. when I do get some GOOD dvd dl media will it cause problems?
NOTE: I'm not sure what your rules are about ripping dvd's (couldn't find a rules page) so I'm just saying that although I did copy these DVD's... I had no intention of doing it just to be a pirate. I did it just so me and my family could watch these movies when we wanted and not have to rent them over again.
EDIT** I made a mistake in the title of the thread can a mod please change it from "with" to "without"? thanks

If you rip rentals then you are considered to have pirated the discs. Basically, if you own it and back it up, fine. If you own it and copy it for someone else, or if you don't own it, then you are pirating under the rules of this site.
That said, most of your problems stem from using rubbish media, and having no idea what you are doing. Pretty much every step of the process you have taken is wrong. I am surprised in fact that anything you have created has played.
If you are still using DVD Decrypter to rip newer titles, you are asking for trouble. While it was a great tool, and still has it's uses, it has not been updated in years, and does not handle newer copy protection methods.
Why rip to a single VOB file ? Unless you need to edit the file in it's entirety, a single VOB has no value. Even if you want to do a movie only rip, if the target is simply to copy to another DVD, a single VOB file is the wrong way to go about it.
The DVD structure allows for a single VOB file to be up to 1000MB in size. VOBs larger than this are not DVD compliant. So if you join all your VOBs into one big one, you have to then split them back up into the original chunks to create a proper DVD structure - not to mention having to create new IFO and BUP files.
Personally, I would rip with DVDFab as a movie only rip, then use DVD Rebuilder with HCEnc to reduce the size to fit (if necessary), then burn with Imgburn. No single VOB output, no demuxing, no IFOEdit or VOBEdit. And buy verbatims.Read my blog here.

So you are speaking in degrees of morality - I steal, but I don't sell stolen goods, therefore I am right.
If you didn't rip the files correctly in the first place then they may not have the copy protection correctly removed, and will therefore no play correctly anyway. In that case, you will have to bin the files because they can't be saved. You may also find that some of the files already burned to memorex discs may not read back correctly because the disc quality has resulted in corrupt files.
For files that are simply a single VOB, the best option is to use VOB2MPG to get the original mpg files, then re-author them as proper DVD structures. You may be able to use the VOBs in GUIForDVDAuthor and re-author from there without using VOB2MPG.Read my blog here.

will converting to MPG result in any kind of quality loss? because I want absolute lossless quality. and after their in mpg format. will they be 100% compatible with all dvd players?
also, in the GUIForDVDAuthor, my question is the same, will there be any quality loss?
and as for correctly removing the copy protection, it's removed correctly. every time DVD Decrypter failed to decrypt a disc I would use DVDFAB7 - I don't like doing this though, because some of the netflix discs had scratches and all of the ''unreadable'' sectors, DVDFAB would replace with empty data where DVD Decrypter would seem to successfully read them or fail.

VOB2MPG does not re-encode, so no quality loss. Similarly, re-authoring back to a valid DVD Structure with GUIforDVDAuthor does not re-encode, so again, no quality loss.
