im using besweet to encode from (23.976 fps .wav to 29.970 fps .ac3)

the ac3 file does not sound good..it seems like the characters are talking fast and their voices are funny!

    maybe this is the problem?

when i get this error should i press yes or no? then save ?

(i have already encoded a .wav file to .ac3 using this same method and everything comes out good)
    thanks in advanced

Actually, further to the above I think there is no need to convert the audio using the beSweet presets of 23.976 to 29.97. And this would explain why it sounds funny.

This may be off-topic but You could probably load your 23.976 fps video + the audio (which has the matching duration) into TMPGenc Xpress. Make sure that the clip settings display 23.976 then convert to mpeg.

actually i did think of that but i read that it is better to encode audio and video separately?
and if u encode it together you would get some errors??

The best way to deal with VBR MP3 in an AVI file is to load the AVI file into GOLDWAVE and then save the audio to a WAV file.

The new WAV file will be fine and all will be in sync.

Just process the video separately and do the WAV separately then join when done.

Regarding the audio framerate (duration) conversion to avoid errors, it's dependant on what you're converting from and to. Under the presumption of .avi converting to NTSC DVD, then your audio steps would be:

1). original .avi is 25 fps:
    - extract audio as wav and convert to ac3 using BeSweet preset to '23.976' (duration)
(this assumes you have done a change video framerate to 23.976 in vdubmod)
which will leave you with 2) below.

2). original .avi is 23.976 fps:
    - encode to mpeg with a 3:2 pulldown for 29.97 fps playback. Then author the DVD.

3). original .avi is 29.97 fps:
    - author the DVD directly.

the .avi im trying to convert is 23.976, i change the fps with vdubmod but when i play the new .avi everything seems to go in fast motion?

We're getting abit off topic here as this is an audio conversion post, but if your .avi is 23.976 fps you won't necessarily have to extract separate audio (unless it is flawed in some way and you wish to correct / enhance etc).

The audio you have extracted has a duration which is based on the original .avi (23.976 fps), and if you use the BeSweet preset of 23.976 -> 29.97 it will probably sound something like the chipmunks. Audio conversions between 23.976 <-> 25 fps video's are not noticeable but you will notice a distinct difference when you throw 29.97 into the equation. You could simply use wav to ac3 (without the presets) if you have alredy extracted the audio.

The easier way would be to leave the audio in the original .avi (and use a pulldown either to mpeg or in a DVD authoring software).

I haven't used GoldWave, but in this scenario you won't need to change the duration (ie: fps conversion is an unnecessary step).

    Why?

If you are authoring to a DVD, the video should have a pulldown applied, which will convert it to 29.997. However the audio is unchanged.
Actually, "fps" is meaningless as far as audio is concerned. It is a shorthand for converting audio to stay in sync when you change video frame rate (eg, PAL - NTSC). But you aren't doing that.

Just convert the wave to AC3, no fps change.

Also, you might use Aften rather than BeSweet for this.
