I converted this video with both autogk and handbrake:

the screenshot shows the pixelation I'm talking about.
The whole movie was pixelated. In fact, the last few movies I've done have been like that. I have no idea why.
The movie plays fine from the dvd in vlc, but after being converted, it looks like that.
Any ideas?

I've seen some codec/player combinations that do similar to that when you move the timeline position, but it usually corrects itself when it reaches the next keyframe (within 5-10 secs typical)

I've had that when the DVD I ripped didn't rip correctly or the DVD protection wasn't removed correctly

Re-rip it again and use software that can strip DVD protection to allow you to make a backup of your original DVD, AnyDVD has worked for me for a long time now

If its an AVI conversion, its not been converted correctly. Again, try again using different software
