    Hi,

I'm new on the forums, so if this is the wrong section, then please accept my error.

    I have a PS3 which has a larger capacity HDD (250GB).

I want to use it as a media server and store my DVD collection directly onto it.

I have been able, using various software, to rip the VOB files from my DVDs onto a memory stick, and then copy these onto the HDD of the PS3.

However, as each VOB file is only 1Gb in size I need to have about 4 or 5 of them per film.

I have found software that enables me to copy the VOB files and then output them as a single VOb. However, as the PS3 has a FAT32 HDD I am only able to use files less than 4GB in size.

I do not want to convert to other formats. I want the quality of my files to be exactly that of the orignal, complete with 5.1 sound.

Please can someone advise me what software I can use to make an exact copy of my DVD films (not bothered about the extras just the main movie), that I can specifiy the size of the VOB with.

I am happy to have 2 VOBs (each of 3.9Gb max), but no more than this.

As stated earlier I do not want to convert to any other format as the quality of the film and sound track are very important.

    Thank you in advance.

    The Lurker.

There is a much longer answer required. Take a look at the link below - these guys got into it pretty well and solved it.

If you don't want to shrink/transcode too much for longer movies you can cut the movie in two in the reauthoring mode in dvd shrink.

    Thank you for the reply.

Could you please tell me, in simple terms, how I do that please? I have the software (DVD SHRINK) but not sure how to make the files split into 2 (to keep under the 4Gb limit).

    Thank you.

    Here,where do you think?

Shrink > Edit>Preferences>Output Files> now uncheck " Split VOB files into 1gb chunks " >OK.. Pick Re-Author button> pick main title and drag&drop to left side window> pick Start/End button next to DVD compilation ,and set start and end frames> OK...Backup to HDD...
