    Hi everone,

I hope you can help out.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop with a firewire port and a Sony TV that also has a firewire port. I would like to view .AVI files from my laptop to my TV. I tried to do it but the TV didn't recognize the laptop like it does with my Sony video cam. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Thank you.

I don't think the tv will recognize the computer as a camcorder.

There may be a way to hack the firewire drivers on the pc to "mask" it into a dv camcorder format but I doubt it.

I would suggest you use video out on your laptop if you have it. Than just use either svideo or composite to connect it to the tv. If its new enough you may be lucky and have a hdmi port that you could connect if its an hdtv.

The TV IEEE-1394 port was probably intended for a D-VHS VCR MPeg2 transport steam. All this would be explained in your manual.
