Premiere Pro CS3 gives me four items when I export for DVD: .wav .m2v .xmp and .m2v.xmpses (What are the last two?) How best to author? Options? I would like a menu-less DVD and I don't want to recompress, but I was thinking of using DVD Shrink. Thanks!

The WAV file is an uncompressed PCM audio track. The .m2v is an elementary stream. At a guess, the other two files are xml files perhaps used by Encore to author.
What you certainly do not have is a DVD structure ready to burn. You still need to author the video and audio files to get your Video_TS folder with ifo, bup and vobs files (i.e. a DVD structure).Read my blog here.

Not much right now - DVD Shrink, Procoder2. (Will that author w/o recode?) What do you like? Thanks!

I think I can make a VOB in Procoder2 and DVD Shrink with those elements, but thanks! What do you think of the Mainconcept encoder? Can't say I'm really impressed with the quality of my .m2v. But I exported 50i to an NTSC wide project and deinterlaced. Appreciate any thoughts... Thanks again,

All this stuff you're posting is non-sense. You need to use authoring software to author.

Quite a few encoders will create what they call a VOB file, but usually all they really create are mpg files with the extension changed. Shrink cannot work with VOBs - it needs an entire DVD structure, as pointed out by His Royal Blueness.
GUIForDVDAuthor should take around 10 minutes to create one from the elements produced by Premiere, and will do so without re-encoding.
I use the MC encoder built into Vegas form time to time, and find it's output to be fine for most uses. I never use an of the presets that comes with Vegas, but have my own, tailored ones. Presets and templates are generally non-specific, one-size-fits-all starters, and rarely produce the best results. For that you have to learn how to tweak and tailor.Read my blog here.

Thank you! I regularly export immediately burnable and playable VOBs from Procoder2. It quickly and easily makes a menu-less DVD. I can load the m2v and wav but I'm believe Procoder2 recompresses the m2v even though I set a matching bitrate. Can anyone confirm? Dunno if I can prevent that. It certainly recompresses the audio. I'll check out GUIForDVDAuthor. To be a complete bother, guns, what are some things you'd do (that I can do) for tailor-tweaks? Thanks again,
