I am trying to capture analog cable tv with my AIW 9800 pro. I am trying to capture at 320X480 or any for that matter with mpeg4 and encoding interlaced. The resulting video is unviewable. there is sound, but just a blank green screen. If I encode as progressive source or de-interlaced, the video is fine.
I have Several DVDs full of movies captured from digital cable s-video mpeg4 progressive source that look just fine to me.
I have read the guides that say you should match the source when you encode to what you are going to view it io. I will being viewing it on a regular analog crt tv for now.
Can anyone tell me why I am getting the green screen video and how to fix it.
Or can I just continue to capture the video mpeg4 progressive source.
Using ATI WDM drivers 5.2 and MMC 9.06
by the way..the green screen also results after capture with virtualdub

Ok. I figured part of it out. The video is being encoded to xvid, but the players I am using were trying to decode it using the 3ivx decoder. I uninstalled 3ivx and now the xvid encoded video plays normally.
However, when opening the video with gspot, the video does not appear to be interlaced despite the fact that I have the encode interlaced option checked in xvid preferences.
I would appreciate any help!
Thanks!
