Hi!
I'm new to the forum. I hope you can help me in my problem. I've been burning avi files as DVD-video using Nero Vision Express 3. I've tried burning the files twice but to no avail. It freezes when its already on the "burning to a disc" stage. I don't know what to do. Nero's been doing a great job for me in the past. I just don't know why recently it can't burn avi to DVD. I'm not sure if my writer is defective because I can burn files as Data.
I have the error log file here : http://www.mediafire.com/?tf9zxvibywa
Can you help me please?
Appreciate everyone's time

Digging through that file, I found a reset occurred and that's likely the problem. Main question: Is this a USB external burner? That type of error is more common with them.
This is the error:
[20:49:39] NeroVision D: CdRom1: SCSIStatus(x02) WinError(0) NeroError(-1114)
[20:49:39] NeroVision Sense Key: 0x06 (KEY_UNIT_ATTENTION)
Then the result of the error:
[20:49:39] NeroVision Reset occurred
Basically the computer lost communication with the drive.
I found from our friends at Digital Digest: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45942
Solution:
If you do a search on SCSI Command Errors, you will find that many others have had the same issue as yours with USB Recorders, regardless of the software used. Meaning, it occurs with Nero, CD Creator, RecordNow, etc.
And the error message varies from SCSI Command Error, Bus Rest, etc...
In most cases, users have found that updating the drivers for the USB Controller resolves the issue. Other found a new External Chassis for the Recorder resolved the issue. And we provided a work around in our MMC.DLL file that causes our software to reissue the command till the recorder is free and accpets, instead of timing out so soon after a lack of response from the device. This resolved the issue for some, but not for others. This MMC.DLL file is part of Nero 6.6.0.3 and above builds.
Try to disconnected all USB devices except for the external DVD burner.
As a last resort, after trying the above solutions and others, they finally connect as an internal to the system and all issues are resolved.
And welcome to our forums. -

I thought it was burning okay but checking on the process status, it looks it haven't even reach 10% and then it freezes. I waited still and after a while the drive just opened then an error prompt appears that the burning failed. This was the 2nd time it happened. I thought it was happening only from the first instance i tried burning avi to dvd but it happens again this 2nd time. So I don't know... but before this happened, i can really burn avi to DVD with no problems.
I will try to check the IDE connection and try (yeah 3 hours again) burning. I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks for your time -
I was hoping it was a simple problem.
After the encode finishes, try burning the finished VIDEO_TS folder with ImgBurn instead of Nero. It appears you have a communication problem with the drive and the burning program is losing contact with the burner and just giving up when it can't communicate, then it resets.
As mentioned, more common with USB drives. A loose or bad cable is one possibility, though you would likely have the same problem with burning a data disc. But check or replace the cable.
If the finished VIDEO_TS folder burns properly with ImgBurn, then Nero seems at fault, at least with the burning. You also might try a different brand of DVD media, though that doesn't seem to be the problem.
The 'three hours' you mention is probably the encoding time. Burning should take less than fifteen minutes, even with the slowest drive and media. -

That means you should already have a valid VIDEO_TS folder somewhere that was created by Nero and the program is using to burn from. You might check to see where Nero put it. When you find it, try playing it back with a program like VLC Media Player that can play a VIDEO_TS folder directly.
If it plays back properly, then the Nero burning engine is likely the problem with the burning of the disc. Try using ImgBurn instead to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to DVD media.
