    I have a avi file that was re-encoded with subtitles (There was an avi-video which was encoded again with subtitles)
    i want to extract those subtitles and convert them into standard *.srt subtitle.

    Is it possible?

    You need an OCR software to be able to convert the burned in / hard subtitles from the avi. You can try AVISubDetector (and I think subrip also supports avi).
