    Hi all,

Been thinking about getting an iphone for a while now but each time I go to buy one I find out something that puts be off buying one. Specifically, the two things putting me off are:

    1) no BluTooth between the iphone and other BluTooth equipped phones for data transfer -

    2) pictures have to be sent via e-mail and not via MMS - how do you send and receive pics directly between phones?

Has any of this been a hindrance to your use of the phone.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
    Regards,

    Rob

Howdy there Rob. I got an iPhone so I can answer your questions there.

    1. The Bluetooth is crippled. Mainly for use with the Bluetooth headsets. I don't have one so don't really use the Bluetooth. To charge the phone I place it in the dock. So there I can transfer files over to my computer so wireless won't really mean a thing to me as I still have to connect it to recharge the battery.

    2. I think Apple did this on purpose. Yup, you send photos between iPhones through the email program on the phone. When someone sends you an image through MMS, it gives you a link that you open up in Safari (the web browser on the phone) through which you can view the image. Kind of a hassle but only time someone sends me MMS is my sister sending me pics of her kids. The only way you can send images to others is through email. I suppose you can email the image to another's phone. I know you can text message through email but not sure if it would work for MMS.

Hi C10 - long time, no see

    Thanks for the reply.

If you get sent a pic via MMS can you store it on the phone with the rest of the message or do you have to go online with safari each time you want to see it?

Yeah, been a while. How you been?

Yup, you can save it to the phone. Saving is done by "clicking" and holding on the image. You really just press and hold. A menu pops up asking if you want to save the image. You do the same for email attachments.

Been fine, started new job so getting used to the new system. What you up to?

Does saving also save the txt that came with the e-mail?

When you got your iphone, how did you transfer all your contacts across without blutooth?

Good. Can't complain about things in life. Waiting for that speech tomorrow.

No, it just saves the image.

Transferring contacts is done through iTunes. You can add the contacts from Outlook or Address Book.

Hope you're not too disappointed after the speech

Well, my resolve broke. I went into the shop and the 16Gb model was the last one left - who was I to say no?
