Hello, I have a Canon ZR950 and am trying to playback/capture 3 miniDV tapes that were recorded on a friend's HD camera. However, when I press play, it brings up the following error message:
    "Incorrect tape specification, playback restricted"
The tapes are normal Sony tapes that I typically use, but tonight, I had to use the Panasonic equivalent. I just tried watching some older Sony tapes (still the same kind) and they work fine too. So the problem lies exclusively in the tapes that were recorded on the HD camera...

By the way, I apologize if this has been discussed to death here- tried a quick search with no luck. I'm pretty much a beginner at working with video so please keep that in mind. Thanks for any help

Got it. So would I be correct in assuming that the only way for me to capture footage off of these tapes is to get an HD-capable camera and do it that way?
    Thanks for the quick response.

edit: I also have a Canon XL1S I can use- anybody know if this will allow me to playback the tapes recorded on the HD camera?
