    Hello,

I downloaded the samle ntsc bin/cue file from this site and it worked fine. No menus but it worked fine.

Now I have the first cd of 4 for LOTR and I burned it with fireburner and everything went fine , no errors and I even checked it for corruption before burning. When I insert it in the dvd (standalone) player it says SVCDtrack 1 and then it advances like 1 second every 6 seconds with a black screen.

I will try the sample again because we did put a upgrade cd in it.

    Any suggections would be good.

I am using the 80 miute 700 meg cds.

Thanks for nay help - Tfp

  2. your player might not support svcd, or the bitrate could be to high for your player to handle. you could try extracting the mpeg and frameserve with dvd2avi and rencode it with a lower bitrate. there wont be much quality loss. i had to do that with the monsters inc svcd and it still looks great.

Well it does support it, since that is what the manual says and the sample svcd works fine with it.

Virtual dub wont even open the mpeg file.
I guess i dont have the mpeg 2 codec, u know where to get it?

When examining the contents on both bins (sample and lotr) they look almost identical except the sample has two extra ones called lot and psd (dont remember extension) in the one of the five folders.

I was using a cd rw for the sample and a cd r for lotr because of its size otherwise i would use a cd rw.

When the lotr is in the dvd player it recognizes its length but then just hangs with a black screen.

I just tested the sample again and the sample does work.

    Reencoding takes forever doesnt it?

    here is my player http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=865&Search=Search&list=0#comments

one guy states he tested it up to 3500 kbit/s.

    Thanks for da help.
