I don't know if satellite discussions are any where on this forum, at least not what I came across when searched.
I recall no more than about 5 years ago, a buddy of mine had an American satellite system. I'm in Canada BTW. He, and tons of other people I knew, managed to buy a complete system for $99 from a Walmart in the US. Being a computer whiz, he also bought a card loader on line. This was so he could program the cards whenever they got hit with an ECM. There were also website that posted hourly updates to be downloaded and applied to the cards. If I recall, these were HEX files. Long story short, many Canadians were getting American programming on their satellite systems. It used to be Direct TV mainly. The networks such as HBO, Cinemax, etc. along with ALL PPVs were wide open.
Since that time there were several changes. I've completely gotten out of the loop of satellite technology. The last I remember was talk about P4 & P5 cards and how they would be practically impossible to be programmed. Is anyone anywhere able to access free satellite in this manner with all stations and PPVs wide open anymore?![]()

I've never heard anything more about them since they were declared illegal in Canada. That doesn't mean there aren't any underground hacks somewhere but that would likely not be an acceptable discussion for this forum
