As I have been going though my things I found that my old Technics Record player circa 1978 or so has lost a channel since last year. Instead of getting it fixed (I did take it apart, all connections looked good) maybe it's time to replace it. I'm fairly young so I don't know all that much about records or record players. As a matter of fact, I knew I had 33 and 78s but I found a couple of these odd records that are small and have a big hole in them. I had to look them up. I do enjoy listening to some of these every once and awhile and may convert the good ones or ones with family importance.

I have 33, 45 and 78 RPM records. I'm tired of having to have a receiver to use the player - so a player with "standard" output (line level right?) is a must. It would be nice for the player to be automatic or at least auto stop so the record isn't damaged at the end of play.

I would buy a vintage player or fix mine, the problem is will I be able to find styluses (stylei?) for it in the future and mine does not play 78s.

I really like the AT-PL120 but there are some features I will never need, like backwards play and some other things. I do like the little fine tune speed adjustments as my old one had it but they are not necessary. I also like the quality of this unit. Maybe there is another less known offering that would not cost as much and suit my needs better?

I know this isn't exactly the right place for this but as I am getting into media and video I figured you would be able to point me in the right direction.

On to that - I don't even own a tapedeck that is capable of being plugged into a computer or receiver. Are they all created equal? Another post perhaps.
