    Hi,
I followed the steps on this site to capture from VCR to disk using virtual dub and the divx codec.
I need some more help, as the settings recommended are not working for me.
When I capture, I get tons of dropped frames, and the sound doesn't sync up.

1- What settings to I experiment with to get the least dropped frames.
    2- What affects unsync'd audio?
3- If anyone has a better method for capture 30 seconds of video from a VCR to disk, please let me know, I'm not attached to vdub.

    Best Regards

I noticed that you experience a lot of dropped frames on slower computers. I recently bought a new computer and I get very few dropped frames now.

    2- What affects unsync'd audio?

This was written in the guides:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/mjpeg.htm#problems

If the sound is out of sync
Open the captured file in Virtual Dub. Choose "Frame Rate" under the "Video" menu. Choose "Change so video and audio durations match". Before saving, make sure you have selected "Direct Stream Copy" under the video menu and Full processing mode under the audio menu. (thanks to Mindstone for this one)

3- If anyone has a better method for capture 30 seconds of video from a VCR to disk, please let me know, I'm not attached to vdub.

Using virtual dub and the divx codec is a good way to capture good quality video :)
