    GO WINGS!

Whew this was a close game tonight against the Penguins. It could have gone either way. Here's hoping for a win on home ice Monday night!!!!

  2. Indeed.

As a Pens fan, this series sucks ass. As a hockey fan, its been a total clinic and a pleasure to watch. The Wins are dominating in every aspect of the game. Its quite impressive.

    Congrats Yoda

    Go Wings!

As a Swede living in US I love to watch Zetterberg, Lidstrom and the rest of the guys .
Hope the Wings will win but having said that, Crosby is great for Hockey and will be a great player for a long time!

Go Sweden in the European Cup Soccer!

Lord Stanley comes back to Hockeytown! The Wings clinched the cup tonight by beating the Penguins 3-2 (including what was literally a last-second save by Chris Osgood). Zetterberg was named Conn Smythe winner.

As did the Penguins. Gotta give 'em credit, they didn't just roll over and play dead; they kept the Wings on their toes, for the most part, and that 3OT win in Game 5 was a true heartbreaker for those of us in Motown (I was getting some bad deja vu feelings in those last few seconds of Game 6, lemme tell ya!).

I'm also very glad that the post-game celebrations here were peaceful and exciting. I'm old enough to vividly remember the rioting that went down after the Tigers won the 1984 World Series (and the ones that erupted after several Pistons championship wins), and I'm happy to see that we've apparently learned from our mistakes. With all the nonsense Detroiters are putting up with thanks to the asinine shenanigans of its "hip-hop mayor," the last thing I wanted to see is another burning police car (or worse) plastered all over the airwaves and the InterWebTubes.

Ironically, as a pens fan, I dont think they played their best.

Yes, the wings were the class of the NHL for most of the year. I can not and will not take anything away from them at all. However, I dont believe the pens played up to their potential. I readily admit that their previous opponents in Ottawa, NY, and Philly werent as dominant a team as the wings but come on. There were stretches of time in the series where it looked like the wings were playing against a bunch of 4th graders. I dont think the pens put their best foot forward. But again, the wings contained them VERY VERY well and deserved the cup .. big time.

As for the rioting, I know allll about it. Having grown up in Montreal, the riot capitol of the world, I know how lame it is.

Yep that was something else all right GO WINGS!

Man that last two minutes of Game 6 was scary as hell. But its all over and we got the cup!

It did seem like the pens finally waked up and realized they were in the cup finals. But by the time they did they dug themselves too deep a hole. If they had won game 5 in regulation they might have had more emotional energy to take game 6 and force a game 7.

IT seemed like whenever the wings let their guard down a little the pens fired up and looked scary dangerous out there. I mean when they got those cross ice passes in front of Ozzie going I was really tense.

This was the best thing for the NHL. Even the ratings were up!!!

I actually had today off and could have gone to the parade. BUT I went to the 2002 cup parade and didn't really need to go. I wasn't looking forward to standing hours and hours outside in 90 degree heat!

Wow...... Nice party in the D!
