  1. a friend wants me to make copies of a 13 dvd set workout videos. all of the videos are on dvd-5 and my friend didn't know what type of dvd's to get so he got sony dvd+r dl dvd's. my question is will the dvd's play correctly on a stand alone dvd player? imgburn pops up a couple of dialog messages that i didn't write down about burning to dual layer. i didn't want to waste the dvd's so i didn't bother burning them. thanks for the help if anyone does answer.

Assuming these are not commercial workout videos, but ones you have made yourself in your lounge room in your spare time (and therefore do not contravene the forums rules), using DL is probably not the best plan.

    1. It is a huge waste of space

    2. He didn't buy Verbatim +R DL made in Singapore, so there is a very good chance they won't burn well or consistently, and will therefore also be a huge waste of time.

Tell your friend to buy a spindle of 25 Verbatim single layer discs. Burn his copies, then keep the balance as payment.

Assuming you use ImgBurn in the correct way to get DVD format and NOT a DVD data disc, the Sony media is not reliable. Even if you get DVD format ready to burn and burn it correctly, the friend still may have an old and/or bad DVD player that can't play DVD+R DL discs. I have a friend whose DVD player simply will NOT play DVD+R DL discs, not even Made in Singapore Verbatim ones. Your best bet for compatibility is to burn to single layer discs, preferably DVD-R.

I don't know where you live, but in North America Sony only puts their name on bad quality discs. It's really best to just buy either Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (you'll have to mail order them) to have the fewest problems.
