Does any one know if it is possible to import DVD VTS files into a FCP timeline?
a friend wants me to change the soundtrack to a short film and has given me the original DVD is made up of VTS files. is there a way to convert these files into a useable format, or do I need it in another (pre-authored) format?

The customary way to do this is to use MPEG Streamclip, Toast, Cinematize or certain other applications to convert the video from the DVD to Full Quality QuickTime Movie or DV format for import to FCP.

i had the same project to do. I used Mpeg streamclip and saved it as a mov file. Worked a treat.

Hi, I already tried MPEG streamclip and it wouldn't import the files, saying it was "an unknown file type" or something similar.. and i don't think my version of toast is recent enough...
when you open the files in the finder they look like text documents not a .mov file.. which makes me think they can't be convertedLucy -
