I recently purchased some supposedly official CD-R acetates from the mid 90's and I was wondering if there were a way to check and see if the discs were actually burned back then or if I have fakes. Is there a program that can tell when certain CD-R's were manufactured or when the discs were burned?
Unfortunately when I look on windows explorer, I get the same date for all discs, no matter what I put in. Can anyone help?

anyone with a cd-r drive can make an exact 1 to 1 bit accurate copy. no way to tell the difference. hope the cd-r's were cheap.

there are programs that will read the atip of the cdr. date of manufacture is not one of the things in there but manufacturer, dye type, and rated speeds is usually included. that might give you some window of time if you can get data to match up with the atip info.
alcohol 120%, or something like cd-r identifier should work.--
