You can buy blu-ray burners. They are a lot more expensive than DVD burners, and so is the media. Blu-ray media is not playable in standard DVD players.

There is only one consistent brand of dual layer media, with is Verbatim +R DL manufactured in Singapore. While other have had success with other, cheaper media, the savings are offset by the fact that they are far less reliable are you are more likely to get coasters. Any DVD burner produced in the last 2 years will be DL capable. Any current one will have no troubles. Pioneer would be the best option for a burner.

Bang for buck, single layer is still the best value option.

Nice analysis....with the blu-ray, i dont want it to play in a standard dvd player, however, i just want to save the stuff to a disc, would it be able to pick up in any regular dvd drive?

the post count indicates they should know better

blu-ray is out is because the blanks alone are $25 a pop and there's more cost efficient means...just like gunslinger said

From a cost standpoint, it is much cheaper and faster to just us HDD's.

I totally agree with zoobie. It's really difficult for me to believe that someone who has 896 posts (at the time I write this) and has been a member for 5 years doesn't really know the answers.

Are things boring in Nassau today?

Yes ... and the search parameter is DVD-9, not 8gb blanks as indicated.
