Hi I am using MKV to AVI Converter I have this movie which before converting to AVI from MKV its 1.07gb but its taken so far taken 6 hours to convert to avi and the size is now so far 1.51gb is this normal for that size movie as I have another to convert which is 4gb so god knows how long thats going to take and what end result size will be. isnt there another converter to do this quicker

  3. how do i find this out as gspot dont read mkv movies since i posted this here the file has now been converting for 7 hours and is now nearly 2gb when it was only 1.07gb as a mkv

  4. The size of the output file is determined by the bitrate you chose to save at.

    What player do you use to play the MKV files? Many players have the option to report the video properties.

  5. Use mediainfo to determine information on your .MKV file

    Why do you want to put it into an .AVI container?

    If it's just a DivX or XviD, extra the video & audio streams with mkvextractgui and put it into an .AVI container with avimux-gui

    If it's h.264 video, then you can "force" it into an avi container with AVC2AVI, but you might get jerky playback depending on how the video was encoded, and the number of b-frames used

    Both these methods should take a couple of minutes, because they do not re-encode, and therefore you lose no quality. The size should be about the same as well.

    I tried MKVExtractGUI but i get this error where do i find these
