hello everyone. i am hoping someone can help me with this.

i have a directv hd-dvr (one of the mpeg4 boxes) that is going (via component) through an onkyo sr575 receiver enroute to a mitsubishi projector. i have some recordings on the dvr that i would like to dub over onto a dvd. i know that the easiest way is probably going to be to just record the programs off the tv as they play, but i am having brain issues and i can't figure out how to connect the dvd recorder. i have a magnavox mrv700vr that i am trying to hook up. does anyone have any suggestions to help me out?

    thanks.

edit: after looking around a bit more, i have an s-video cable going from the hd-dvr to the dvd recorder as well as coax audio cables going from the out of the hd-dvr to the in of the dvdr. however, i am stuck there. should i be seeing something on the screen from the dvd recorder?

The S-video is likely your highest quality input of your recorder. You will need to choose the appropriate input to record from, likely Line In (or something similar....should be covered in the manual).
