    hi

im looking to replace my largish monitors with something smaller.

i require a monitor that can take either composite or s-video as inputs in pal, ntsc or secam and it must have underscan. 4:3 will suffice

does anyone know if such a unit exists as flat screen economically?

    cheers!

How small? Just about any LCD TV will have the inputs you want. Most in the 15"-17" range will have a couple of scarts, composite and S-Video inputs and probably VGA so you can use it with a computer too.

Try somewhere like ebuyer or your local Tesco.

  3. You can't buy from NewEgg but here's some information about 4:3 "security monitors":

And 16:9 monitors with composite/s-video inputs:

I don't know if any of them they underscan. I doubt you'll find an LCD TV that underscans.

My only problem with using an lcd tv instead of a bonafied monitor is its resolution capability. Would a tv that small have a high enough resolution for computer use? You should make sure if you go the tv route that its max resolution is adequate for your needs. You might regret not getting a more powerful monitor if your into gaming or are a graphics user.

  5. Composite and s-video are the lowest of the low in video signals -- about 640x576 for PAL.

It's not clear to me what you really want. Are you looking for computer monitors that also have video inputs? Or are you looking for monitors only for watching SD video sources? 15 inch LCD displays will typically have 1024x768 resolution for DVI or VGA inputs. 17 inch monitor are typically 1280x1024. You're not likely to find any TVs that underscan analog video inputs.
