I'm in the process of ripping all my dvd's to H264 Mp4 for my media centre..
Every now and then i get a dvd that, when ripped is blurring during motion.. i've tried 2 computers and 2 programs - dvdfab and dvd decrypter...
Same problem, this is becoming VERY frustrating!
Anyone got any ideas? I'm not exactly new to this i started ripping with dvd2avi tmpg etc.. back in the day, but this is getting right on my t*ts!!!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. TA

Just ripping can't make it blurred. Or do you mean after you converted to mp4 using dvdfab or whatever you are using?

It could look blurred if the dvd is interlaced and you are using a software dvd player with a crappy deinterlacer.

are you watching the original DVD and the ripped .vob on the same display?

If watch a DVD on your computer then rip it to the hard drive there should be no difference.
If you are ripping then encoding to a different format (why are you doing this? you will lose quality.) then the settings or the encoder you used introduced the blur.

    Motion blur, or interlacing ?

DVDFabs conversion to mp4 is abysmal anyway. The resizing method causes huge artifacts and an unwatchable output. Very similar to Womble's mp4 conversion.

However, if you are seeing this in the ripped VOBs then it was always there, which makes me think it is probably interlacing that you are seeing.

What player are you using on your PC ?

i've tried it on VLC WMP11 QT...
    Could it be my codec-pack?
    I've got k-lite mega installed...
    directshow filters perhaps?
i'm ripping movie only for a media centre, dvd-fab or decrypter to rip
TMPG to encode got 200 encoded perfect almost exact dvd quality at 1.2gb ish..
just seems the odd 2 or 3 discs are p*ssing me about.
the blurring is evident on the ripped vobs on 2 different computers?????
Note - these are legit dvds not snide...
