  1. I have a movie I've made in Toast with a custom menu.

I'd like to have Audio in the menu.

    This has to be possible.

There has to be someway to either edit the menu from the DVD to add music or re-author the Toast style menu with music in some other program and then move that menu in. (the moving is easy for me to do with DVDRemake on the pc side).

Is there some way to craft a menu in iDVD to resemble the Toast menu? I have the photoshop files that Toast used.

Can anyone make suggest or help with this?

This is REALLY easy to do in DVD Studio Pro.
Not that you wanted to hear that.

If you figure this out, you'll have a fine piece of shareware
templates you could sell to toast users....

  3. Let's go back to the DVDS.P.

    Which way can it do?

    Edit the existing VIDEO_TS folder?

    Use the TOAST menu .psd?

    Recreate the Toast menu?

no, it allows you to author a DVD that has a menu with custom buttons,
menu transitions and add audio to the menu. all from scratch, no toast involved.

An alternative is CaptyDVD 2 which has customizable motion menus and the option to add 15 or 30 seconds of audio. Since I don't have DVD SP I use CaptyDVD when making a video DVD of concerts recorded from TV as MPEG 2 files. I can set the chapter markers at the start of each song and have text that describes the chapters. The music is a nice additional touch, but it is the descriptive and accurately located chapters that I really care about.

  6. I've heard of CaptyDVD but as far as I can tell, they don't offer a trial or demo version, and dropping $70 site unseen doesn't appeal to me.

Makes good sense, which means your remaining choices are iDVD and DVD Studio Pro on a Mac. Dropping $1,299 for FinalCut Studio/DVD SP sight unseen isn't likely to appeal, either. You probably already have iDVD as part of an iLife package. So instead of using Toast to make your movie, use iDVD and the audio menu problem is solved.
