    Hello,

I had 2 AVI files with VBR Audio that I wanted to join, and I know that problems can occur when compressing it to CBR, like sync problems so I did the following.

Saved the Audio to WAV from the first and second video file.
I used a program to join the 2 wav files to make one.
Now I was ready to run the WAV file back into virtualdubmod and compress it to mp3.
I opened the first video file with vdubmod, and appended the second.
I went into the streams list and I made sure to disable the stream from the video files then I added my WAV file, But when running the job it gets an error and complains about the 2 files having different sampling rates, EVEN THOUGH I DISABLED THE STREAM AND USED MY OWN WAV.

Join using AVI Demux instead. Load the first file, let it build a timemap if it asks, then append the second file. Again, build a time map. Save the results, and if asked, use Smart Encoding with a q value of 2. Remember to put the file extension on the name when you save it. No need to re-encode the audio.

With avidemux I could just load one video then append the second, and I was able to recompress the VBR to CBR, without any sync problems, the only problem is that the filesize was way bigger than I expected, about 700mb down from 1400mb, with virtualdubmod I was able to get this down to 350mb using the same settings on xvid, 2 pass vbr, target bitrate 512k. Thing is AVIdemux uses some codec called Xvid4 rather than plain old xvid, maybe thats why my filesizes are much bigger than Vdubmod.

That is why I want to get it to work with Virtualdubmod. I dont understand why Virtualdubmod gives errors with the 2 sampling rates being different, when I DISABLED the VBR stream in the stream list and used my own WAV.

I just found out what could be a bug in virtualdubmod?

When I use "dont run this job now, add it to the job control", then when I open my job control and start the job, I can that error with the Audio sampling rates not being the same.

But when I leave "dont run this job now" unchecked, and then click save it begins encoding without no error.

Both audio and video should be left as Copy in AVI Demux, because you don't want to re-encode any of it.

Actually I do, because I want to recompress it so I can play it on my Pocket PC.

    2 hours 30 minutes total.

Im trying to encode, using xvid, I selected 2 pass VBR, set the average bitrate to 300k, and for audio I used MP3 CBR at 96kb/s

But This is what I am getting while encoding on the status window

    Average bitrate - 600kb/s

Isnt the bitrate supposed to center around 400kb/s? (300k video + 96 audio)

At this rate im going to end up with a huge filesize.
