I have a DVD of some videos that were taken of a billycart race. They are in .vob format. I'd like to convert them to something more appropriate for the web, eg .flv, and join them together.

So far, I've found software that will convert them (ConvertVOBtoAVI), and in hunting around on this forum, I've downloaded VirtualDubMod as it sounded like it might be be able to join vids.

But as a total newbie, I'm still stuck on how to join them together. One runs for 30 mins, the other for 10 mins.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

With VDM, you 'append' the second file to the first file. But they have to use exactly the same properties and specifications or it won't work. AVIDemux is a bit more forgiving, so if VDM doesn't work, you could try that.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. Does anyone know if is it possible to join two mpeg files with WOMBLE MPEG-VCR?

I use MPEG-VCR to cut commercials out. But movies are usually recorded in several files. I would like using the same tool for both tasks, cutting commercials and merging mpeg files. I have not been able to do it with the last free downloaded version, a few days ago.

    Thanks Redwudz!

In VDM, I can open one of the VOB files, but I can't find any menu items that suggests 'append'. I tried Help, but didn't find anything there.

Could I trouble you for some step by step instructions, to get my 2 vob files into one flv file please?

BTW, this is for a freebie community website I'm creating, at www.billycartclassic.com.au

My mistake. I believe you can only 'Append' AVI type files. The 'Append' is in the 'File' menu, 'Append segment'.

You might try AVIDemux as it can append MPEG files and save the result. It works similarly to VDM.

    Interesting website.

Paco M. , Sorry I don't use MPEG-VCR. But, as mentioned, AVIDemux seems to do that easily enough.
