MPEG-4 Part 14 is the same as MP4 which is the same as Nero Digital, and
MP4 is the same as Nero Digital which is the same as MPEG-4 Part 14, and
Nero Digital is the same as MPEG-4 Part 14 which is the same as MP4.

    Right?

If that's true, then I'm gonna stop trying to use the plethora of free MP4 conversion tools and just upgrade my Nero Ultra Ed. 7 to Nero Ultra Ed. 8 and just use Nero Recode to convert my library of dvds to mp4s, while preserving original resolution, multiple soundtracks and subtitle sets. I'm not against free, but I'm way in favor of easy.

    Not exactly.

MPEG-4 Part 14 is indeed the .mp4 container. However, that container can contain different kinds of video and audio streams. Therefore .mp4 is not necessarily "Nero Digital." For example, the mp4 might contain an XviD video stream and a vorbis audio stream. The term"Nero Digital" just means the media was generated by Nero. Which doesn't mean much.

MPEG-4 Part 2 is visual, including DivX and XviD

MPEG-4 Part 3 is audio - advanced audio codec or AAC

MPEG-4 Part 10 is AVC - advanced video codec or AVC. This is h.264

If you find the Nero suite meets your needs, great.

Dang! And I thought for a minute that I finally had a handle on this confusing situation. I swear, I could become literate in Greek long before I'll get this all straight.

Thanks for your help, guidance and patience.
