Hi,
I have been looking around in this forum all afternoon, but couldn't find the answer. Hopefully, someone can help me out. I am trying to get the scene length from a DVD. B4, I was able to use 'mplayer' with the -chapter option (on Linux) to get the scene length. However, on some of my DVD, I could not get the info out. I tried to use AoA DVD Ripper, VirtualDub, IFO.Edit to see if I can get those info. What I got from them was the DVD was divided into different titles and several chapters in each title. I know 1 of my movies only has 5 scenes, but somehow, I see 7 chapters in AoA Rip.
I am just confused about how title, scene, and chapters really mean.. Can someone clarify it
Thanks a bunch
R

Chapters are simply entry points into the play of the title within the dvd. They are not usually a fixed running length as the person who designs the dvd will determine where the chapter points start.
You can on a self-made disk have chapter-points at a fixed interval (dvd-recorders do this automatically) but the last section will invariably be shorter than the preset size.
I do not think there is an easy way to determine the running length of a title. If you knew the encoded data-rate, you could do the maths.
