Hello all!
I've been using TMPGenc Xpress v3 for a while now and it works great, but the problem is it encodes so slowly. I use 2nd pass XViD encoding, and when I record a 3hour TV show it takes around 7hrs to encode it. It's just too slow.
Is there a way to speed up the process? And will it go faster if I use a Duo Core processor instead of a normal Pentium?
Have a nice day,
shorto

Dual core will make a difference.
expect a 50 - 75 % improvement. (This is what I see in version 2.5) -
Switch to single pass target quantizer (constant quality) encoding. That will cut your encoding time in half. The quality will be whatever you specify. The encoder will use whatver bitrate is necessary at each frame to maintain that quality -- so the final file size is unpredictable.
If you really want fast, switch to Divx and single pass quality based encoding.
