  1. Hello Group,

I have some random videos that playback just fine in any player I use.

But when I use the MPEG Video Wizard to do some editing, they have audio pops in playback and in the final exported AVI.

Any thoughts on why this could be happening?

    thanks,
    XP all up to date..

You should use MPEG Video Wizard to export edited video as MPEG file or VOB file, not AVI file.

  6. Does it happen to every exported video? from every input? What format are the "random videos" in? What codec is the exported AVI using?

Since it's paid software, you could contact their support.

There are many free alternatives you could try.

  7. Thanks for the reply...

I used 'random' to let you guys know that it doesn't happen all the time...

Haha and as such the 'random' vids could be AVI, MPG, etc...
I didn't start jotting down which particular format they were in or checking the particular codecs. (although I have a hunch that could be the problem but I'm not pc savy enough to figure that out.)

I decided to try this avenue before contacting Wobble support because they aren't the quickest around in replying to issues. They do, just not quick at it

And NO I am NOT lookng to try an alternative program.
The MPEG Vido Wizard is GREAT for my needs!!!

  8. Maybe you can find out more information on what type of codec might be giving you problems. Use gspot or mediainfo to determine audio & video codec of the "suspect" files. Also use it on the output file. AVI is just a container; it might contain different types of audio & video codecs.

Is there a reason why you want AVI container output?

  9. I like AVI because it's a smaller file...

I have over 2000 live music video clips on two 500 gig h/d's and I'm running out of room as it is

Haha they go along with the over 16,000 mp3's I have

See here's the deal, I can take one of my own clean (no pops or crackles) videos and run it thru MPEG Video Wizard and it WILL HAVE pops and crackles in the audio.

I'm hoping that somebody will see this thread and chime in with, "yap that happened to me and here is what I did to correct the situation."

I have GSpot but I'm mostly clueless as to how to read the information to figure out if there is a problem.

    Thanks for your time!!!

First, try to understand the problem before you attempt to solve it, and one of the first steps in doing so would be (as poisondeathray suggested) to use Gspot to help you identify the audio codec of a suspect file. Take a few minutes and get to know and understand the various information provided by Gspot...it's really quite simple. After you've encoded a file to an .avi format and discover that it contains "pops," find that original file and determine which audio codec it contains. You may discover that particular codec is the once causing the problems.

Second, which audio codec are you using when you convert to .avi? If you are using the MP3 encoder option, try using another option (such as one of the ADPCM encoders that it offers) to see if any of those cause "pops." By process of elimination, this may help you determine if that particular audio codec may be susceptable to "pops" when using MPEG Video Wizard DVD to convert it to an .avi file. However, although I use MPEG Video Wizard DVD mainly to cut/join MPEG files for my projects, I've converted several files to .avi using this software, and have yet to experience any audio problems. Be aware I have version 04/03/2007 (not the newer version you are using), and it has been flawless, so I cannot help you determine if your version may be causing the problem.

If all else fails, contact Womble, be patient, wait for their response, and hopefully they can provide you with some insight.

    Good luck.
The more you know, the more there is to know...

Hahah I tried to mention in my posts without bashing ME too hard that most of this stuff comes real hard to me.

So trying to understand all that this envolves is going to give me a headache...

Like the "G" in Gspot might as well stand for "Greek" as all of the info is mostly "Greek to me!!"

Thanks to both of you guys for taking the time to comment but before we get to the converting process, as I mentioned, just playing a clean file in other players, the MPEG Video Wizard playsback with pops.

Adding, that the files that now pop in the MPEG Video Wizard were created with it........

    Thanks again!!!
