I am going to purchase the Ulead Video Studio 11 software package. I usually just order off the site, but when I tried the trial version I was unable to get it working even with the hotfix provided on the site.
My question is would the download have the same problem and would I just be better off buying the program at my local Fry's for 80 something bucks? My thinking that the store bought version would be sans of any bugs that would prevent me from using the software the day of purchase.
Any and all thoughts are welcomed.

The store bought version for software in almost all cases will be an older version without any recent fixes applied. By recent it could be months or even longer, depends on how many runs of reproduction they had and how old the stock is.

Othet than that the only difference between box and download is the download version requires you to to download a huge amount of extras if you want to get it comparable to box version.
-
I may be mistaken but the download version is the same as the 'Try before You Buy' version.

You are sent a product code by email plus a link for the extra content.

The boxed version is unlikely to be updated for the updates/hot fiixes which will still have to be downloaded.

Best to ask this question on the Ulead forum.

Will it work for you since you have problems with the TBYB ? Who knows.

bought VS11+ boxed off eBay new for $24 via buy-it-now
it blows but was the only editor at the time that handled my m2t files properly
I still use it because I haven't decided what to do yet

as far as I know, even the d/l'ed version needs serious updates/patches available onsite

once you get all these required updates and patches, you'll be good to go

MSP8, vegas pro 7, etc. Premiere? couldn't handle it
 that was last fall
they might have patches for them by now
 why?

I was referring to the blows comment, where else you gonns get a editor like that for $99 with all the features it has?
-
you're not...but it still blows compared to the full versions
 have you used it?
-
Yea but they don't cost $99. :POriginally Posted by zoobie

Haven't used that particualr version but have downloaded a few ttrials, think the lat one was 9. couldn't have changed that much. I have about 3 copies of SE7 here if you want them.

I use MSP7, not enough reason for me to upgrde yet because i don't do enough. It does what I want for the most part. Probaly be getting something new soon, hopefully packaged with really expensive piece of hardware.

you know what I don't like about VS?
the timeline snaps closed when you move any clip
if you've synced to audio, it throws everything off
 no workaround
 still using MSP7 myself
 have SE9 :P
