    Hi guys,

I am having difficulty converting FLV files to wmv using Total Video Converter 3.11. Ive tried auto, wmv1 and wmv2. Sometimes TVC converts them but most of the time it just crashes immediately when i click convert or after about 1 second into the conversion. Same thing when i try converting to mpegs - sometimes works but mostly crashes.

Its really annoying having to try converting over 40times to get it to work. Not sure what the problem is, only thing i can think of is it may not be fully compatible under vista. Anyone else have issues with crashing as well?

    thanks for the help

flv --> Avisynth --> WMNicEnc should be the preferred way.

just tested super did not work for me. Keep getting errors. Super mentioned it has errors working in Vista. Anyone else encounter this?

used: output (wmv), codec (wmv8), audio codec (wma)

video: 720 * 480, aspet 3-2 and didnt change anything else

tested with directshow decode and without. any tips?

    try doing this

super, resolution NO change, fps 25, container output extension MP4

    codec mpeg4,

    video bitrate 576

when you get that file which will be akin to a stream copy, as far as quality and frame rate

now you can convert that to anything you want

super will NOT upconvert/transcode flv to a higher res

for FLV files its much better to use an intermediate format of the SAME resolution

unless you want to go the avisynth route sugested above
