I need software recommendations (freeware or shareware) doesn't matter but quality does

    1. So what's the best tool out there that can extract audio? I tried Riverpast's product and was not satisfied. As i dont want it to lose any audio quality.

    2. Best software to put a text/picture (call it watermark) on videos?

    3. Which one is better Nero 6 or Nero 7? I've heard not good things about the 7. And are there any better *software* burners?

    1. It depends on the source. Virtualdub can extract audio from most avi files without quality change.

    2. Again, virtualdub can do this as well as any product. You can't do it without re-encoding, so quality really comes down to how well you re-encode

    3. Neither. 7 is bigger than 6, but both are bloated and well past their use-by date. For general burning I like Prassi ONES. For DVD Video and data burning, imgburn 2 is small, free and the best of the lot.

virtualdubmpeg2 can open all of those and save the audio. Virtualdubmod can make a fair fist of them as well, and is easier to extract audio with.

They may not be as pretty, but they are far superior to pretty much anything you will pay for.

Downloaded them. Care to elaborate "as how to"

When I open the file in virtualdubmpeg it tells me:

"Couldn't locate decompressor for file format WMV2.(unknown). Virtual Dub requires a Video for Windows(VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Direct Show codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

It seems he's one of their officially-hired spammers.
