Got a sent a home made dvd-r, on a cheap crap media, CMC MAG AE1. This plays on my standalone, with freezes every now and again, that I overcome by speeding up over the freeze and it then continues. I copied it with shrink onto my hdd, and burned onto a TY, hoping to have filtered out the freezes. Same thing at the same points with the re-burn. They do not freeze on the computer though. Shouldn'd the re-burn have ironed out the freezes, and is there a better way to do it ?

How old is this home player, and has it happened with others.

Also confirm the frame rate of the dvd, and make sure your home dvd player supports it, otherwise problems can occur.

  3. Try Decrypter, ISO read, ISO write, if you have Decrypter. There's ISO Buster too.

  4. Hmmm, PC playback OK, so what would cause a standalone to stutter but not a PC? I would check for bitrate spikes, perhaps demux and remux.

The file you copied to the HD from the suspect media works just fine. Media eliminated.
