Hi,
I want to recode some mp3 at a lower kbps. It looks as if ffmpeg can do that (you can select your kbps) but the resulting files are 0k (empty). Can anyone help?
I am on MAC. I tried compressor but it doesn't ave an mp3 output.
Thank you!

First, MP3 is an audio format. Are you sure that VIDEOhelp.com
is the right place to be?
But I digress.
Get a copy of Amadeus (free to try). Read in the MP3, do a
save-as, select MP3, and set the desired bitrate via the
options button.Al Bloom -
For audio-only files, you have to check the "invert mapping" box under the Audio tab in ffmpegX.

Here is a solution I have offered for people who want just the audio track from a video, but it would work in your instance as well. Try this:

It is a droplet onto which you drop your decrypted vob or mpeg or avi, and the resulting file is a mp3. -
