According to all sources, the iPod Classic only supports videos with AAC audio up to 160 kbps. However, I encoded a music video using AAC audio at 320 kbps and it works like a charm. It plays perfectly without any problems.
The only weird thing is that the song also appears in Audio. Playing it will play the audio, skipping the video, treating it like any iPod-compatible audio-file.
So does anyone know how and why this happened? And if the iPod Classic actually supports 320 kbps AAC (and I was somehow the first one to notice this)? I haven't tried encoding anything long into 320 kbps yet.
The complete specs of the video is:
Baseline 3.0, 640x480, 1490 kbps video, 320 kbps AAC-LC. Encoded and muxed in MeGUI.

Update: I just tried it with Billy Elliot, a full length movie. The 320 kbps version plays without any problems and it does not appear as a song either, so I assume that only happens with music videos (all of them).
So there you have it, people. iPod Classic (at least) supports 320 kbps AAC-LC (at least if it's encoded in MeGUI, I can't speak for the likes of Staxrip and BeSweet)! You heard it here first!
