Having downloaded a few .avi video files, after encoding is complete on viewing I find that they all suffer from a slight fault in the graphics motion. Every second or so there is a slight jump or hiccup, not major but still discernible. Can I improve this or is it more to do with the original bitrate or compression preferences that the author has placed on it.![]()

1/ Converting your AVI files to what format?
2/ What is the original and target framerate?
3/ What conversion tool(s) did you use? -
Sounds like you converted 23.976 fps NTSC film to 25 FSP PAL by duplicating one frame out of every 24. A better approach (used by commercial DVD) is to speed up the frame rate. Of course, the audio has to be sped up too.
