Need help. It 'LOOKS' like SVCD2DVD is buggering up some timecodes?
Based on history it is something I am missing or something stupid I am doing.

My process: Record a movie on my standalone, rip it into the PC, trim it with VideoReDo, author with SVCD2DVD, burn with ImgBurn. I use the 'Force Processing Assets' option in SVCD2DVD. About every 5-10 movies processed results in time code problems. When burned, the standalone plays the disk fine until it gets to the problem area, then it hangs up.

I usually review movies in mplayer before burning. When a movie with a bad time code section is loaded in mplayer, it plays, but the duration displayed is in error and the scroll bar is way off. Manually moving the scroll bar hangs the player.

The SVC log is attached. I don't see any obvious problems.

When loaded in PgcEdit a bad movie shows all kinds of problems.
Error messages when authored movie is loaded:
    _________
Warning: The number of VOB IDs stored in the VTS_C_ADT table of VTS 1 (13) don't match the real number of VOB IDs in the table (1).

Warning: The number of VOB IDs stored in the VTS_C_ADT table of VTS 2 (21) don't match the real number of VOB IDs in the table (1).

Warning: There are 2 discrepancies in some VMGM/VTSI_MAT tables. Do you want to run the "Fix number of streams" macro to fix them?

There is no subpic stream defined for the Menu domain in the VTSI_MAT table of VTS 1. However, as there are non-dummy PGCs in the domain, one subpic must be defined in VTSI_MAT. Fix the number of subpic streams in VTSI_MAT to 1?

There is no subpic stream defined for the Menu domain in the VTSI_MAT table of VTS 2. However, as there are non-dummy PGCs in the domain, one subpic must be defined in VTSI_MAT. Fix the number of subpic streams in VTSI_MAT to 1?

PgcEdit has detected errors in the time map tables of 2 VTS. The bad time maps will be rebuilt when you save the DVD.
    __________

    Chapter 20 of 21 in VTS2 shows a timecode of 1515:1515:1515:212.

(After 8 attempts to upload screenshots, you'll just have to live with text!)

PgcEdit hangs when attempting to fix the timecode. These timecode errors exist after running QuickStream Fix in VideoReDo on the source mpg file.
The source mpg files before authoring seem fine, at least they play normally in mplayer.

When the source mpg file is authored using DVDLabPro, the timecode errors are fixed. The entire movie is in 1 chapter. Any of my video files when loaded into DVDLabPro I always get the warning that the file contains 'Open GOPs'.

Q1) Does anyone know of a free tool that gives the same detail as PgcEdit but on mpg files??

Q2) Are the errors warned about in PgcEdit (see above), and DVDLabPro (Open GOPs) Real existing errors?

Q3) Any ideas where these errors are generated or how to avoid them?

Q4) Since the mpgs look OK before authoring in SVCD2DVD is this the problem and if so, can I do something to fix it??

An obvious fix is to use DVDLabPro, but I can't afford it, and am using it now during the trial eval period. Besides, I much prefer SVCD2DVD.

I give up on uploading anything, even after following the guide on how to. So here is the log file pasted.

In that example log.... Where is the "problem area". Is it towards the end of BenHur?

Yes, it starts ~ 3h:10m out of the total 3h:30m duration. Or chapter 20 out of 21 total chapters.

ok. it maybe that the large duration is causing the issue... i will try to replicate it this end before we go through the nightmare of me getting my hands on that 3GB mpeg!

In anticipation of a file request I experimented and it will take the whole file. Using VRD I cut different sections of the movie leaving the bad section, 1st half, 2nd half, etc., none of the trimmed sections had the bad timecode.

I'm also trying to isolate where the problem occurs. Used 3 methods to transfer a different file to the computer; Copy using Win Explorer, DVDDecrypter File mode, " IFO mode. DVDLabPro finds open GOPs in the files from the above 3 rip methods. Don't know if this has any significance to the timecode problem. Can't use it on the IFO mode files but I loaded the copied and File mode files into PgcEdit, and it found no errors.

Will continue trying to isolate the problem.

Don't have any idea how long it would take but I do have a DSL connection if a file transfer is necessary. It is SUPPOSED to be 3-5MBit rate (duh, thats the download, I'd have to look up the upload rate).

Right. Can you unzip the attached to your SVCD2DVD folder and replace the dll that is already there... This should solve the problem. I will include the fix in the next release too.

Let me know the outcome please.

Looks like ya done did it again Chrissboy. The fix allows proper viewing in mplayer. Then I loaded the files in PgcEdit. I still get the same error warnings as before, but the timecode problem is fixed! When Pgc says it has to fix the timemaps, it can actually fix them instead of hanging up.

Since the files work without repair in Pgc, I'm led to believe that the error warnings are of no significance? Have you any thoughts (only if you have time) on the questions in my original post? If not I can post in a different forum section and hope others can answer them.
