    Hi,
I am having trouble backing up my movie "The Game Plan."
I tried to rip it using RipIt4Me but that failed(something about a Dirty or Scratched Disc) so I used DVD HD Decrypter and that worked great...
But now when I open the movie in DVD Shrink 3.2 it crashes when it is analyzing around 15%. The whole program completely disappears.

    Any Idea why its crashing?
I can do other movies just fine, just not this one?

Any help would be Greatly Appreciated
    Thank You

    Hello,

DVD Shrink is no longer being developed, so I believe that your movie is probably having problems with decryption. I have experienced the crashing as you mentioned. If you like using DVD Shrink, I usually load in DVD43 v4.0 to handle newer items like your movie. It will pre-decrypt the movie so that DVD Shrink will handle it.

    Hope This Helps!

Ripit4me is no longer updated. Use DVD FAB HD DECRYPTER which is freeware to rip files to your hard drive. Then open up DVD SHRINK to compress.

You might want to try running FixVTS on the HD copy before shrinking.
This is what RipIt4Me does after ripping the DVD before calling Shrink

Sometimes it helps - and I don't think it can do any harm

    Hi IKnowNothing,
I did try using FixVTS but it had no effect at all...
After much fiddling I was able to fix the problem by disabling Video Preview...I don't know if you could really call that a fix maybe more like masking the problem.
I was able to get a good clean copy though.

Any ideas as to what's going on with that?
Has anybody else had this happen to them ?

    Thank You

I used latest Dvd Fab HD Decrypter then used Dvd Rebuilder Pro with no problems.
Dunno why people want to make things so difficult when it doesn't need to be. Older programs that are not updated which is why they no longer work correctly. :P

Sorry I've not seen that before but I NEVER use preview 'cos it slows things down

Budz does have a point in that DVDShrink, Rit4Me etc are all defunct in terms of development and thus need more and more help or we need to look at replacing them.

Personally I've replaced DVD Decrypter woth DVD Fab but then I'm still using Shrinkl as it's simple to use and gives excellent results (IMO).

Effectively tho' if it works for you - run with it
