hey there people, yes i am a newbie and looking for some assistance. I have recorded some stuff on to two tdk DVD-rw mini disks that you use in a Sony handy cam, and i want to transfer both of the recordings to one standard DVD+RW disk. I have managed to transfer one disk to the standard DVD+RW using Roxio Creator Home, but when i try and transfer the second recording to the disk Roxio is telling me that my disk is not blank, and do i want to erase the contents of the disk....!! and i don't, because i have just put that data on the disk. so is it possible to transfer both mini DVD disks to one large DVD+RW?. So what am i doing wrong? Am i using the wrong disk to save both the recordings on. I have just downloaded a free trial of Nero Startsmart would this be of any help to me.

You can only write one DVD structure to a disc at a time. Even in multi-session discs, you can't have the same files repeated.

You have a couple of options.

    1. Copy both originals to your HDD under different folders, then write the lot in one session. This will give you an archive that you can play on your TV, but it won't be playable on a standalone DVD player.

    2. Copy both originals to your HDD then use DVD Shrink in re-author mode to combine the two into a single structure that can be written and played back on a standard player. You will lose any menus with this method

    3. Copy both originals to your HDD and use something like DVD Remake Pro to join the two into a single disc with a menu at the top level and the camera menus below that (if any). Playable on any player.

    4. Copy he originals to your HDD and use an authoring tool to combine the two into a single disc structure, creating menus and chapters as you go.

I know all of this sounds complicated, however with a little effort, it's not too bad. Unfortunately DVD based cameras were designed for people who shoot their video, then put the disc on the shelf, and then go and buy another disc. It is not for people who want to edit or combine their videos so they can reuse their discs.
