Hi,
I've been capturing 1h45min video to AVI using iu_vcr and Picvideo mjpeg software. The old sync problem I had seems now solved (yippeee !).
But, there is always a but(t), now the final AVI file reports a frame rate of 24.997. I tried to manually change it to 25.000 but of course then, the movie becomes gradually out of A/V sync after 20 min or so.
I plan to convert this to MPEG. What should I do ? I guess it won't work if I leave frame rate to 24.997. On the other hand, if I force 25fps, I probably will lose sync.
Can somebody help me on this ? What should I do now ? SHould I stretch/expand the audio part ? what else ?
Many thanks for helping (once again)

I think you should stretch the audio. You can do this with Cool edit or BeSweet. The formula is explained in one of these NTSC to Pal topics. Please search the forum.

Hi Truman, and thank you for answering.
I wish I shouldn't have to do this audio stretch operation. Apparently this frame rate thing is a known issue with iuvcr.
Now I saw that the new VirtualDub is able to deal with WDM drivers through a wrapper so I'll give it a try. Maybe this time both frame-rate AND synchro will be OK !
I'll be looking for the formula you mention though in case...
Thanks.

whats the deal with VirtualDub and this wrapper thing everybody keeps talking about? someone PLEASE explain this to me.
i really dont understand why people keep saying that VDub is not compatable with WDM drivers. i use a Visiontek Xtasy Everything and to the best of my knowledge i am using WDM drivers. at the bottom of the list in the video pull down it says "Microsoft WDM Image Capture (win32)" and in the source selection box it says "nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)". as far as i can tell i am capturing using WDM drivers.
never had a problem with the WDM drivers so someone PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS!!! is it a specific thing for just ATI cards? am i incorrect in thinking i am using WDM drivers? if i am infact using WDM drivers why cant ATI cards?
peace out,

Hi Dumwaldo,
For my part, I couldn't see any driver listed in VDub before. NOw that I've installed the wrapper, Microsoft WDM driver appears, but I suspect it is somehow "patched" to VFW driver by the wrapper.
Anyway, it works like a charm and allows 704x576 avi capture without any single frame dropped.
Maybe it's an ATI thing, dunno. You shouldn't worry too much as long as your setup workd fine
