I am editing my own video in premiere elements that was captured in dv-avi on minidv tape. I have now completed this video and want to export it but am wondering which option to use and what codec settings to use.

If I export to dvd folder I get the standard vob file which is good quality but large file size around 1.5gb for around 27 minutes. I tried exporting to h.264 and divx and the results were appauling despite having a file size of around 1.5gb.

Could anyone recommend any settings or options to select.

is the dv-avi source interlaced or progressive?
what h264 or divx settings have you tried? what video bitrate?

Im not sure if its interlaced or progressive, I tried using divx6 at default setting then at quality quantizer 3. h.264 i tried fairly high quality settings, cant remember exactly but didnt change much from the default.

I wondered if there may be an issue encoding from a dv-avi. I wondered if i may be better exporting the film to a dv-avi on its own in completed format rather than exporting from the timeline in my nle program, then converting using other software.
