What's odd? That Blu Ray outsells HD-DVD by several orders of magnitude? Shouldn't come as news...

One title that's available in both formats:

A small exaggeration, but according to the chart, the top 10 BD titles are around the 75th most popular, while the top ten HD-DVD titles are around 400th most poular. That's quite some gap. Note that I'm not pro neither BD nor HD-DVD - If anything I'm con Sony - But it's becoming more obvious for each day that HD-DVD is the new Beta Max, no matter what my heart longs for.

  5. Note that sales ranking doesn't say much about the number of units sold. Suppose for example the top 399 titles sold 1,000,000 units each and the next highest title had sales of 999,999. In this scenario the 400th ranked title sold 99.9999 percent as many discs as the top ranked title. On the other hand, maybe that 400th title only sold one copy, in which case it sold 0.00001 percent as many!

True. But as you say - the trend is pretty clear, and the last media buzz about Warner giving up on HD-DVD isn't going to help. If I was a salesperson today, guiding a customer to a new High Definition player, I would not suggest a HD-DVD player unless I could give it away for free.
