So let's have it then. Whatcha get this year????? Already bought it? Waiting for the stores to open for that gift card? waiting for the online stores to get going for shipping???

I got The Mummy (Brendan Fraser version) and Batman Begins on HDDVD and they look great. I also got a Best Buy gift card for movies.

I bought myself a bluray rom on newegg. it should come in the next day or so hopefully. I will buy a couple of bluray movies for sure. I'm thinking probably STARGATE the movie and either a Disney movie or possibly Robocop or some other action flick..... Any good recommendations for BLURAY? What besides Spiderman is exclusively out for Bluray?

    -----

Anybody get a new computer this year? An Ipod? A new tv?

    Come on let's hear it!!!

Also feel free to share the gift of giving and boast about what you gave other people this year
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Well, not much more I can get. Plus its more of a kids thing around my house. I got a new stack of DVD+Rs, an external 250GB drive and a new coat.

Kids got all the cool toys. Tons of dolls, Elmo stuff, Care Bears (when did they come back?), and one of those kid-size full kitchen sets.

I got, literally, 8 zippered hoodies. I got mostly money from my clients, but also a 1TB external from one.

I will be buying a Nintendo DS, after having bought one for my kid. There's a homebrew card for it that allows you to play Doom, emulators and all kinds of cool stuff way beyond the original intent of the DS.

Oh, one other client got me a $200 Chili's GC, so I guess I'll be loading up on heartburn too. ("I want my money back, money back, money back...")

  4. As for tech toys, all I gots was a 320GB drive and the x-530 speakers for the PC. Oh and a spindle of dvd's.

Outside of that, tons of clothes. A memory foam pillow, memory foam slippers, hockey pants, Season 5 of 24, Dane Cook Tourgasm, TONS OF FREAKING CHOCOLATE (good thing I gots that gym membership eh?), a painting of Mario Lemieux, alarm clock, a kickass new water bottle for the gym/work/hockey, an NHL trivia calendar, a Razor (that battery powered kickassness).

Phew ... now the woman and I need a new house to put all this shit in. DOH!!!

    Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

I don't celebrate Christmas but in the spirit of supporting our economy I generally buy myself gifts this time of year (my friends and family know not to buy me anything, they simply send me cards). This year's toys:

    - A new cell phone, an HTC Mogul with Windows Mobile 6. I had a free iPhone but I "traded" it to a friend who has AT&T since I find Sprint the lesser of two evils (and EV-DO is way better than other wireless broadband). I got a 4GB microSD card for it as well just so I shouldn't have to mess with that for a while. Hoping to get a Jawbone headset for it soon.

    - Assassin's Creed for PS3 which has had hold of me since I bought it. Unfortunately it only took a few weeks to complete but going back for all the extra finds is taking some time. The final boss battle is about as good as anything I've seen from a FF title.

    - A new Gibson CS-356 to replace my trusty Epiphone Dot. I love these big old blues boxes!

I didn't get much in the way of tech this year,
unless you'd consider this beauty "tech":

    Image 15.5s - $330 at Wal-Mart.

At first i was cautious of buying something like this from WM,
but I looked at other places like Acamady & sears and read reviews online,
and this one had the best Sturdy quality-to-decent price ratio.

I got a 80gb iPod classic, and have been going crazy with handbrake ever since.

    Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS unit

    Guitar Hero III (360)

    Super Mario Galaxy

    A Shop/Vac

A new mixer for the kitchen

    Clothes

And I bought myself a PS3 and a few HDDVD/Blu Ray movies the day after Xmas.

It's absolutely amazing at high ISOs. Then ISO 6400 is about the same as many other DSLR's ISO 400, or point-and-shoot ISO 100-200's. It's incredibly clean. It doesn't really start to get color noise until after 6400. It blows away both the Canon 5D and the D200 .... put together! I printed some 6400 shots 11x17 and it was crisp and clear, shot with Nikkor 80-200. It far exceeded my expectations, and at this point in time, I can say that digital has finally surpassed 35mm film..

The 9fps is pretty handy too.

Not toyed much with the Active D-Lighting. Not yet.

I had to update Adobe PS CS3 and Adobe Camera Raw 4 to even view the NEF files. NikonView 6 barfs and crashes on the NEFs. I have to now use Nikon View NX, which I don't find as friendly as v6 was. Oh well.

Not really shot any JPEGs on it, just RAW shots. Having two card slots is helpful, with 8GB per card (Kingston Elite are my cards of choice).

Taken about 2500 shots with it so far. Few keepers, lots of "oopsies".

    Happy New Years, everyone

Well, I didn't get much, cause we are not doing so well, financially. This year I've been
taking care of family members. You know how it goes. Anyway.

I did get an electric throw. And I love it. It really does come in handy while at my computer
keyboard here, typing away and things. It has three heat settings. I think its somewhere
around 40 watts to 100 watts, give or take. So, I turn off the base board heat and just
just my 600 watt heater under my desk and this electric throw. Works out well.

To all those with their BIG-screen tv's and things..

Drools@ those kuros and panny z700!
I just read about the new Panasonic lcd z700 on some website, it's being show cased at the 2008 CES in Las Vegas. They've got a bunch more other lcd's that Panasonic will be introducing in 2008.

Here's the link for CES on the Panasonic lcd's.
